Harvest Trust
There’s a special term used in horticulture which is ‘propagating’. That is, the method of rooting stems in soil, trimmed from other plants in order to grow more plants in your garden.
When snipped at the right time these stems develop their own roots and become brand new plants, growing strong in their own right.
We are going to borrow from our green-fingered friends today as we commit to trusting the timing of our lives.
Over the course of eight years focusing on this work, there’s something many of us that compare our milestones share in common. That is that there tends to be one area that feels more preoccupying than most. E.g. work, romance, home, wellbeing, family and so on.
And it takes up so much emotional and energetic space that it overshadows the reality of other things in our lives going swimmingly. It tricks us into playing down real-time successes and diminishes the significance of developments that we should absolutely be celebrating.
For example, you have a career win finally come off but you’re fixated on wanting to move into a bigger apartment “I can’t believe I am still only here!”) so you just take it in your stride as another day at work, when it’s anything but.
Or perhaps you heal a rift with a much-loved friend and yet you’re so obsessed with how much money your other pals seem to be making (“Will I always be the skint one?”), that you can’t enjoy the relief of the closeness that has been restored.
Of course, feeling like the only single person on planet earth takes its toll despite the health breakthroughs you might have worked so hard at (“Will I ever meet someone?”)
No matter what you have going on in your life right now, you are here, part of the club and wholeheartedly committed to your self-worth and growth - this dedication will have a positive ripple effect on every single area of your life. This self-devotion absolutely counts as a success that you can use to build your trust in the other areas of your life. You’re always further forward than you think.
WORSKHEET
In this first exercise, we will borrow from the trust and belief that the wider areas of your life are demonstrating. And, using them as the plant cutting, plant them in the soil where you need to grow trust and belief the most. Serving as a solid reminder that you could not be further from being a lost cause.
