PLAY!

MAY monthly topic

Life can be really full and with each of us doing our best to adult in this world, it’s easy to feel disconnected and lose touch with the lighter side of life.

That’s why we’ve chosen PLAY as our focus for May. Let’s get ready to splash in some puddles and experiment with our curiosity to spark fun and enjoy these moments right here right now! We’ve some brill surprises up our sleeve! 🥳

Workshop with Lucy

In this workshop you’ll be guided to connect to what play means for you, which of the 4 types of play give you the most joy, how to create time for it in your life and the benefits of incorporating play into your comparison free life! Pens and paper at the ready - there’s a rich range of prompts for you to dive into, for some soulful self-connection to your inner-child and the playful adult within!

A reminder of those 4 playful types:

Other-directed: Those who like to fool around with friends and acquaintances
Light-hearted: People who regard their whole live as a type of game
Intellectual: Those who like to play with thoughts and ideas, and are able to turn monotonous tasks into something interesting
Whimsical: Tend to be interested in 'strange and unusual things' and are amused by small, everyday observations

More resources for those of us who are curious about the 4 types of play!

Journal article discussing the new structural model for the study of adult playfulness.

“How playful are YOU? Psychologists reveal the four types of 'play' personality - and say it could give people an advantage in life.”

“Playful people may be at an advantage, psychology study says.”

Workshop with Dani Bello

Connect to the present moment through playfulness and creativity in this hands-on workshop with Dani Bello of ‘Bello Mind and Soul’! You might like to gather any art materials you have, but a pencil and paper is fine too!

  1. Mindful Making - creating something just for the fun of it, disconnecting from the outcome

  2. Gratitude and Support - create an image of the universe having your back, where you feel supported! Surround the image with words and doodles of things you’re the most grateful for.

Head to the group and share how you felt after doing these exercises (and share your creations, if you feel called to)!

You can find Dani on Instagram here and her website here.
